Shore Excursion: Skagway (Alaska, USA) – Cruise Cardinal

The Cruise Cardinal is in port at Skagway, Alaska, leaving the Golden Princess in June 2013. Skagway only has about 1,000 permanent residents, but during the five months of cruise season it gets about a million cruise ship visitors. What’s there to do in Skagway?

Many people head out to the White Pass and Yukon Route Railway for a ride, but that’s pretty expensive – and you can get a bus ride that parallels the tracks for much cheaper, but you’re riding on a bus. The Cruise Cardinal wants to get close to nature, however, so he goes on a wild life tour run by Dawson Dolly – and what a character she is! The Cruise Cardinal doesn’t know what to think – she’s even nuttier than he is!

When this video was shot, sunrise in Skagway was about 4 am; sunset was after 10:00 pm! Not quite the land of the midnight sun, but very close!

Thanks for watching; come back for more cruise reviews!
